Why I think clear stamps are better than wooden block stamps
Clear stamps are one of my new favourite things in the crafty world.
I get a lot of people asking me about clear stamps and not really understanding what to do with them because they only knew what they grew up with, big chunky wooden block stamps. So in this post I hope to clear up a few concernes people about clear stamps and help you see why I think clear stamps ARE better than wooden ones.
With a wooden block you know roughly where you are going to stamp but you can never be 100% sure it is going exactly where you want it to go. One of the things I love most about clear stamps is that you can see exactly where you are putting the stamp.
If you have a big enough block you can even place a few stamps on the block and stamp them at the same time! This makes working with letters super easy. 🙂 My handmade business cards are a perfect example of this. 🙂 I put all the letters of crafted together and was able to use it as one big stamp. Without going to the effort of getting a stamp made this is a lot harder to do with wooden stamps.
Please don’t get me wrong, I am not anti wooden stamps. I think they have a wonderful aesthetic that is totally lost on clear ones. I’m not saying its clear stamps or nothing, and I really do believe everyone is entitled to their own opinion so here are some pros and cons to help you make up your own mind…
Wooden stamps
Pro – They look awesome to display
Con – They are big and bulky and can take up a lot of space
Pro – They have a good solid handle
Con – You can’t see where you are stamping.
Clear stamps
Pro – They are slim and don’t use much storage space.
Con – You can’t sit them all up and display them
Pro – Because they are clear you can see exactly where the stamp is going on the page
Con – You need to buy a separate handle or block to use them.
Pro – You can arrange several stamps on the one block and use them all at once.
What do you think? Do you prefer clear or wooden stamps?
