How to: Felt patch Christmas stocking
You will need:
Felt
I used two A4 size sheets of felt and one A3 size sheet of white for the back
Needle and thread
Choose a colour that is contrasting to the colour felt you are using.
you will also need a pins, pencil and scissors
Step 1: Cut the felt into smaller pieces to be used in the patch work.
Step 2: Stitch the pieces together. Sew as many as you need to make a nice big sheet. work out how big you want your stocking to be and keep that in mind when stitching the pieces together.
Step 3: Once you have reached your desired size for your patch work sheet cut it into the shape of a stocking.
Step 4: Trace the stocking shape on to your other whole sheet of felt and cut out the shape. Alternatively you can pin the patch work piece to the whole sheet and cut around that.
Step 5: Stitch the two pieces together. I wanted the stitches to show to match the patchwork but if you don’t want the stitches to show sew them together with the two pieces inside out.
Step 6: Cut a strip of white felt. Make sure it is long enough to wrap around the top of the stocking.
Turn the stocking inside out and pin the white strip to the top.
Step 7: Stitch the strip onto the body of the stocking.
It does not matter how messy the stitching is on this big because you wont see any of it.
Step 8: Turn the stocking back out the right way and fold the white section over to create the collar.
Step 9: Use a spare strip of felt to create a loop for the stocking to hang from.
Stocking finished!
