How to: Upcycle chalkboard magazine box
A super simple tutorial to renovate your standard magazine boxes.
You will need:
Boxes
Blackboard paint
brush
glue
little buttons 🙂
Step 1
Paint the box. It doesn’t matter how messy it looks, you will need a few coats anyway.
Keep coating the box until it’s a clean black.
Step 2
Start gluing! Of course you don’t have to use buttons but as most of you know, I kinda like buttons. 🙂
Plus I have had these tiny little guys hanging around in my massive crafty stash for YEARS so I jumped at the chance to use them. 🙂
Stick think where ever you like. I stuck some at the back of the inside of the box. It’s also a great way to cover any mistakes you might have made in the painting process. 😉
Pretty. 🙂
Step 3
Condition your new chalkboard box. To do this cover the whole box in chalk. (or just the section you are going to be writing on.) Once the surface is covered rub the chalk off. If you don’t condition the area it will be harder to rub off the chalk when you want to change it.
start playing. 🙂
write what the box contains, a nice message or just draw a picture. 🙂
I just love chalkboard paint!
Have you used it before? What did you make?
