D.I.Y. Foam stamps with elastic strap
These elastic strapped stamps are PERFECT for the young kids.
Super easy to make too! Here’s how…
You will need
Thick foam sheets
Scissors
Pen/pencil
Glue
Elastic
Needle and thread
Step 1
Cut the foam into squares. You will need two squares per stamp.
Step 2
Cut two slits into the foam.
If you are making these for a little person measure the their hand to get a good fit for them. 🙂
Step 3
Cut a piece of elastic around 10cm long and thread it through the cuts in the foam.
Step 4
Stitch the two loose ends of elastic together.
Step 5
Glue the two foam pieces together. You now have the base for your stamp!
apply pressure to the two pieces while the glue is drying. I put a candle on top of it. Worked brilliantly. 🙂
Step 6
Draw the shapes you want onto another piece of foam…
…and cut them out.
The foam is thick but scissors do work and I actually find them easier than using a knife.
Because the foam is quite thick shapes with straight edges do come out looking better because they are easier to cut out. Just something to keep in mind when choosing your shapes. 🙂
Step 7
Glue the shapes onto the stamp base.
DONE!!
Here is another handle option you can use if you don’t have elastic,
or just don’t want an elastic strap…
Cut out several pieces of foam. A few small and one larger one.
Glue them one on top of the other with the largest one on top.
This will give you a good sturdy handle to work with.
What do you guys think? 🙂
