Book review – Little Book of Lettering
It’s been SO LONG since I’ve written a book review. I really should do more. I love books. I’m a very tactile person, as I’m sure most of you are too. I think that’s what makes my passion for physical books so strong and why I haven’t gone totally digital only just yet.
The book I’m showing you guys today isn’t actually a “Craft” book, more of a design book. I think all crafters have a good appreciation for graphic design, especially Typography so I’m very confident you will love this book.
In Little Book of Lettering the chapters are broken down into Digitally drawn lettering, hand-drawn and illustrated lettering and three-dimensional lettering. The first section is beautiful but the second and third chapters are where I think you guys will totally fall in love!
I’ve actually been lucky enough to see several of these brilliant typographers/artists/designers speak at Semi-Permanent over the last few years. People like Timba Smits, Benja Harney, Jessica Hishe and Gemma O’Brien and there are probably more.
The second chapter is full of stunning illustrated typographic artworks. Like you can see here from Mary Kate McDevitt.
