Guest Post: Custom Monsters by Curious Little Bird
Hi! I’m Melanie from Curious Little Bird
Today I’m going to talk about what I offer besides really awesome monsters. One of the great things I do is offer my customers completely custom monsters, per their design. All I ask is that they provide me with a detailed pencil drawing, specify any colour they’d like, fabric colours etc. I use what I have in my stash, unless the customer is willing to pay a little extra, then I will go and buy them the fabric they want.
The first one was for a 10 year old girl, and she comes to the craft fairs I attend every time. Every time I see her, I ask if she’s still loving her doll and what her name is. She smiles, but tells me there is no name. She did this really detailed drawing (bottom right) and my creation is on the top left.
The second monster I did was for a woman in the U.S. for her tomboy daughter. It was really easy, and I just printed the image to scale, cut it out and used it as a pattern. 🙂
The last custom monster I got was during the December craft fairs. Back in October I was talking to this guy, Benji, about how I reuse my dad’s old plaid work shirts for my plush foxes, and he got this idea of using his shirt to turn it into a plush for his girlfriend. I got contacted, and was commissioned to do a panda ‘monster.’ Using the shirt’s collar, buttons, sleeves and pocket, I made this panda. Quite the challenge, I have to say.
Well there you have it. My custom monster listings on Etsy will always be available! If you have any questions, or are interested in this, please contact me at shop@curiouslittlebird.ca
Have a great day!
