Etsy tip: The importanse of a handwritten note
I buy a lot of things from sellers who have stores on etsy. If you ask my bank account I buy way to many things… I just can’t resist handmade goodness. 🙂
When I get a package in the mail it is always SO exiting, it’s like Christmas! A little package just for me. 🙂 But to tell you the truth I sometimes get a bigger kick out of the little personal touches the seller puts into the package rather than the item itself. This may sound silly but I’m sure I’m not the only one!
The thing I lookforward to most is a little note written from the seller to me. This little note is usually what makes me a return customer.
Why should you should include a note?
- It is a GREAT marketing tool! When I get a note from a seller I hold onto it. I keep them all in a little box, along with any business cards, and I’m sure I’m not the only one. 🙂 When I am thinking about buying an item simular to something I already purchased (earrings are my weakness…) I pull out my little collection. It’s like a reference guide. 🙂
- It can make your item seem sooo much more personal and makes the customer feels special. Like you have made the item JUST for them.
Important things to think about when writting a note for your customers
- Include their name. You know who it is for, thier name is on the invoice. 🙂 If the name on the shipping address is different to the address ask the seller if it is a gift.
- A discount code is optional but I highly recommend it! A customer has just purchased a notebook from you for $15. They LOVE it! They use it all the time… The pages fill up and they need a new book… They are very likely to pull out your little note so they can get that extra 10% off. Seems like a big thing to them but really, it’s only $1.50. That $1.50 has brought the customer back to your shop. Sure it won’t happen 100% off the time but the small number that do come back is totally worth it.
Do you include little notes with your items?
Do you keep notes from sellers? Have you gone back to a seller because of a nice note?
I would love to hear what you think. 🙂
